BUS TERMINAL
USING OLD STATION SITE
PROPRIETORS' INTERESTS j PROPOSED PLAN UNSUITABLE j j While the transport interests in Auok- ' land are in favour of the old station ' site as a terminal for their services and the proposed legislation for its lease bv the City Council from the Government, they ;are opposed to the tenta- , tive plan of the city engineer, Mr. J. j Tyler, for the lay-out of the area. A statement to this cftoct was mado yesterday bv Mr. N. 1). Spencer, tho bus proprietors' xoprosontative. Mr. Spencer said tho lay-out that had been suggested was entirely unsuitable l to the hus proprietors. It was proposed to ask the City Council to appoint an independent architect to collaborate with the council's special sub-committee in preparing future details. Arrangements had already boon made with the Mayor, Mr. Ernest Davis, and the council for tho bus and service-car interests to hare representation on the subcommittee during tho time preparations wore being made for tho use of thi site. Mr. Spencer would represent the ! bus interests and Mr. J. Dent the ser- ; vice-car proprietors. A conference would bo held next week. At the request of the transport'interests. said Mr. Spencer, a clauso had been introduced into the bill at present before Parliament, to tho effect that j bv-law:3 passed by the Auckland City | Council in connection with the site were | to be sent within seven days to the Minister of Transport, who might at "any time thereafter by notice published in the Gazette disallow a by-law or any j part of it.
