WAIHI DENTAL CLINIC
THREAT TO CLOSE DOWN SERIOUS FINANCIAL POSITION [BT TELEGRAPH —OWN CORTIESrONDENT] WAIHI, Tuesday That the" Waihi schools dental clinic is again in danger of being closed down was announced by Mr. F. B. Rice, district dental superintendent, at a meeting of school committees held last evening to consider the financial position of the clinic. Mr. Rice made it clear that the Education Department would not replaco the dental nurse now on leave owing to illness until such time as the district committee in charge of the clinic gave an assurance that overdue arrears in maintenance costs would bo wiped out at an early date, and would definitely close the .school if regular payments were not made afterward. It was pointed out that the committee's inability to meet its obligations was due to the fact that a large proportion of the parents whose children were receiving dental treatment had not paid the small annual levy made on them, but the opinion was expressed that as the committee had not held a meeting*Binco December last,"and had failed to put into operation the resolution insisting on compulsory payment, it would bo advisable to appoint a new committee. This proposal will be considered at a further meeting of school committees on Monday nex^
