BAY OF PLENTY ACTIVITIES

A combined bridge and five hundred card evening was held at the residence of Mrs. B. Peebles, Taneatua, in aid of the Taneatua Tennis Club. There was a good attendance. The prizes at bridge went to Mrs. E. Semmens and Mrs. C. J. Rogers, and the consolation prizes to Sliss J. Beer and Mr. G. H. Merrie. At five hundred the winners were Miss Clendon and Mr. K. Tebbutt, Miss E. Rao and Mr. J. Lawn taking the consolation prizes. Supper was provided by the ladies of the club. The military dance held in the Taneatua Hall by the Taneatua troop of Mounted Rifles was a very enjoyable occasion. The ladies' committee, comprising Mrs. A. Mitchell, Mrs. Reid, Mrs. Farquhar, Mrs. .Hayward, Mrs. J. Peebles and Mrs. G. R. Yeoman, provided supper. During the supper interval Major Cawte, officer commanding the Bay of Plenty Squadron, presented the Hancock and Nathan Cup to the Matata-Taneatua-Waimana troop for the highest musketry score recorded for the year.
