PROPOSAL TO FORM BOARD SEPARATE SCHEME FAVOURED [bt telegraph—OWN correspondent] KAITAIA. Tuesday At the meeting of the Kaitaia Power Board held last evening a communication was received from the Bay of Islands County Council, suggesting the holding of a conference of all northern local authorities for the purpose of considering tho advisability of forming a power board for the far north. The board's consulting engineer also wrote stating that the Public Works Department had advised that the board's application for a loan for a hydro-electric scheme for the area had been hold up till it was seen if a power board could be formed in the north and power from Arapuni brought into the district. Tho Public Works Department is to bo advised that, as it would be many years before power from Arapuni could be available in this area, tho board considers that permission should be given it to proceed with its own scheme, and then link up with Arapuni when power is available. Mr. L. Peace was appointed the bpard's representative at the conference of northern local authorities to bo called to consider forming a power board.
