HARBOUR BRIDGE

CONFERENCE SUGGESTED A conference to discuss the position of the Auckland Harbour Bridge waH suggested by the Northcote Borough Council last night. The Auckland Citv Council advised that it had reaffirmed tho decision that the authority held by the Auckland Harbour Bridge Company should be surrendered to the Government, and that the Empowering Act of 1931 should be repealed. It was decided to request the City Council to convene a conference of all the members of the City Council, the Auckland Harbour Board, the Isorthcote Borough Council, and the directors of tho Auckland Harbour Bridge Company, together with the representatives of all the local bodies circularised by the City to discuss the position. It was also decided to ask the company to supply information regarding tho prospects of financing the bridge.
