NIGHT PATROL
PAPATOETOE MOVEMENT TOWN BOARD'S SUPPORT The Papatoetoe Town. Board decided last evening to co-operate with tho Papatoetoe Chamber o£ Commerce in its proposal to arrange for a night patrol in tho district. The chamber stated that recent burglaries in tho district had caused considerable concern among business people and a petition hod been signed bv 30 persons, each having consented to subscribe a weekly sum toward the remuneration of a night watchman. The chamber suggested that the Town Board should become a subscriber and sponsor tho schcmo. Mr. W. A. Cairns said the proposed scheme hnd been successfully adopted in other districts. Ho urged the board to support the project. 'J he chairman. Mr. W. J. Nicholson, said tho board could only accept liability on a footing similar to that proposed for business people. It was agreed to support tho scheme and to contribute 2s 6d weekly on tho understanding that the chamber would control t*ie schomo.
