FLOODS DELAY WORK CONTRACT FOR APPROACHES [from our own correspondent! HAMILTON. Tuesday A delay on the work on the Fairfield Bridge, owing to the flooded statt* Of the Wnikato Rivor, was reported by the engineer, Mr. A. A. Woodward, to the Waikato County Council to-day Work was proceeding on the short Bpan at the western approach. The Btaginp for the first long span from the eastern side was being built and would be read* to erect when the river was low enough to allow pier 0 to be built. The council accepted the tender of H. Rohson at £470 for the formation of the western approaches of tho bridge Mr. Woodward stated that the work involved the removal of 10,800 cubic yards of material.
