"BRITAIN ILLUSTRATED"

PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION A FINE COLLECTION An exhibition of 109 photographs, (.aken by staff photographers of the Times, London, and entitled, "Britain Illustrated," was opened at the premises of Milne and Choyce, Limited, yesterday by the deputy-Mayor, Mr. B. Martin. It will continue until September 18. The exhibition has been organised on behalf of the Times by the Orient Line through its Now Zealand agents, the Union Steam Ship Company. All the photographs, which include 13 taken by the infra-red process, are admirable examples of the art they represent and are extremely well mounted. In some cases the charm or grandeur of the landscape has sufficed to make a picture of remarkable appeal. In others hunting, fishing, yachting or some phase of agriculture is illustrated in a beautiful setting. In welcoming the opportunity of seeing the exhibition, Mr. Martin said he had noticed with gratification recently the increasing number of occasions on which New Zealanders were being enabled to see examples of art from overseas. Those responsible for the exhibition were to be warmly thanked. Mr. J. N. Greenland, manager of the Auckland branch of the Union Steam Ship' Company, spoke, and appreciation of the pictures was expressed by Mr. C. R. Ford, president of the Society of Arts.
