BUTCHERS' DISPUTE
RETA3L. WORKERS' AWARD PARTIAL AGREEMENT REACHED All clauses other than wages and several minor items; were settled substantially -on the lines of the present award in the retail butchers' dispute, heard before Mr. P. Hally, conciliation commissioner.' It was decided to refer the quest-ion of wages to the Arbitration Court for settlement. Minor clauses held over for consideration at another meeting included the following:—The employment of casuals under the age of 21 years; the proportion of bojs and youths to adult workers; the inclusion of picnic day as a holiday; the,period of annual holiday; general conditions dealing with the employment. of second shopman. The union's proposals regarding bacon hirers were held over for further consideration ;after a meeting of the Conciliation Council in the bacon curers' dispute haji been held.
