GIRL DISAPPEARS
MYSTERY UNSOLVED MISSING FOR SEVEN WEEKS [»Y TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION] WANGANUI, Tuesday The police havp been making extensive but fruitless inquiries regarding the disappearance of Phyllis Margaret Davev, aged 15, from Raetihi on -I uly 17. She was sent to do some shopping and called on a butcher, a fruiterer, a stationer and the post office m oequence, getting the mail at 12.40. Since that time sho has not been seen. On July 18 the girl's mother received a letter from her, indicating that she intended to go to Pipiriki with the intention of obtaining employment. This was posted between 8.15 and 11 a.m. The father says he is certain that the letter was not posted by the girl, as lie was aboub the post office during that period. The description of the missing girl is as follows:—Height sft. ljin., weight 9st, 61b. She appears to be about 17 years old, and is of stout build; brown hair, blue eyesi, natural teeth, some of whjch are missing at the back; scar near centre of nose; birth mark at back of head under hmr; very high instep. When last seen the girl was wearing an old white dress of flower and leaf .lesign, a blue velour coat with fur collar and cuffs and a row of buttons each side and old canvas shoes. She nad no hat or stockings. When in the fruit shop the girl appeared to be in good spirits and of taking the meat homo for lunch. She had! no money at the time of her disappearance. . Any person knowing of the girl s whereabouts is requested to communi* cats with her father. Mr. W. W. Davev, of Ilaetihi, or the nearest police station.
