NORTH SHORE PROBLEMS

PROPOSED CONFERENCE POLITICAL ASPECT SUGGESTED Advice was received by the Northcote Borough Council last night that the Mayor of Takapuna, Mr. J. Guiniven, had convened a conference for Monday night at the Takapuna borough chambers to discuss matters of common interest to the North Shore districts. The subjects included the coordination of drainage facilities, water supply, suggested cancellation of th«* charter foi tilie proposed Auckland Harbour Bridge, proposed establishment of an airport, and the question of a hospital on the North Shore. The Mayor, Mr. U. Martin, said Mr. Guiniren had not conferred with him. There was nothing they could do at the conference. , "This is obviously a political move on the part of Mr. Guiniven," said Mr. A. G. Osborne, who suggested that he might be informed that discussion should be deferred until after Decern ber. It was docided to reply that, having accepted the invitation to the address by the Leader of the Opposition on Uip sariio evening, members were unable to attend the proposed conference.
