MANY CLOSE FINISHES
NORTH AUCKLAND TOURNEY THE SEMI-FINALS REACHED [BY TEI.EGR.VPII —OWN CORRESPONDENT 1 ! WHANGAREI, Friday The annual North Auckland amateur golf championship tournament was continued to-day in wet weather, which, however, improved considerably during the afternoon. Conditions generally were much bettor than yesterday, and the greens and fairways of tho Mount Denbv links were in excellent order. The four players left in tho championship after to-day's play are: H. F. Buckley (Whangarei), runner-up last year and a previous holder of the title, who meets G. W. Foote (Huawai). A. B. Gillespie (Whangarei) plays W r . ,T. Glanville (Whangarei), holder of the title. In tho first round this morning three matches were taken to tho 19th hole, and all the others were good, even games, with tho exception of Dr. Buckley v. A.
