SITE OF ROTORUA
INQUIRY CONCERNING SALE LENGTHY HEARING ENDS [by TELECRAPH —OWN correspondent"! ROTORUA. Monday The inquiry which has been in progress in Ohinemutu since last Wednesday concerning the circumstances surrounding the sale of the site of the Rotorua Borough to the Crown by the Ngati-Whakauc tribe in 1890 was concluded this afternoon before the presiding commissioner. Mr. R. N. Jones, Chief Judge of the Native Land Court. Tho commissioner said he would consider his recommendations and forward a report to tho Native Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives. The inquiry was instituted as a result of a petition presented to the Native Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives by 160 petitioners representing the Ngati-Whakauo tribe. At tht hearing Mr." H. O. Coone.v, of Te Puke, and with him Mr. Thomson, of Auckland, appeared for the petitioners, while Mr. Hubble and Mr. O. A. Darby, of Auckland, represented the Crown.
