AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP VICTORY TO M. D. WHITE The final session of the Auckland provincial amateur billiards championship for the Billiards, Limited, Shield was played on Saturday evening at Messrs. Billiards, Limited, showrooms, when M D. White maintained his consistent efforts throughout the session and finished with' a fine average of 11 points per cue for the 1000 points. On this average he will be most difficult to defeat in the New Zealand amateur championship tc be held in Auckland this week. Holdsworth, the r'liner-up, in spite of his splendid effort in the first session, did not have the same opportunities in the hnal one. but he fought a <ood uphill game. The final scores were:—M D. White, 1000 ibreaks ot 33. 35. ij6, 25, 61, 43, 28 , 29), beat L. F. W Holdsworth. 767 (breaks of 24. 24. 29, 34, 26). Mr. C. T. Cummins, on behalf of Messrs Billiards, Limited, presented the shield to Mr. M D White, to be held by his club. Commercial Travellers', for one year. He also received a gold medal, Mr. L. b\ W Holdsworth was presented with the Bot of balls used in the championship.
