LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

Manurewa. —The branch recently held its annual meeting. Mrs. Roberts presided. Tho report and balance-sheet showed the branch to be progressing satisfactorily and to be in a good financial position. Mrs. Whyte, provincial secretary, presented the retiring president and secretary with beautiful bouquets of spring flowers. Tho following officers were elected President. Mrs. Sexton; vice-presidents, Lady Gunsou, and Mesdames McAllum, Roberta, Muir, Sheldon, Nicholas and Fenwick; secretary, pro tem, Mrs. Collie; treasurer, Mrs. Russell; librarian, Mrs. Haughey; tea convener, Mrs. Nicholas. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Jenkins, Crisp, Hayden and Whitton. Onehuuga.—Keen interest was displayed in the annual meeting of the branch. The president, Mrs. W. J. Jordan, presided over an attendance ot about 100 members and their friends. The report presented by the lion, secretary, Mrs. S. Potter, showed that the branch had made extensive progress. Tho balance-sheet also showed advancement on the financial side. M rs - W. J. Jordan, who has been president for the past four years, intimated hor desire to retiro from office. The election of officers resulted:—President, Mrs. R W. Kirkpatrick; vice-presidents, Mrs. S. Clark, Mrs. R. W. Bissett, Mrs. W. J. Jordan and Mrs. Barker; hon. secretary, Mrs. S. Potter; hou. treasurer, Mrs. V. Hunter; roll secretary, Mrs. J. C. Sibbin; pianists, Mra. Dunkley and Mrs. Crawshaw; overseas correspondent, Mrs. S. Bindon; afternoon tea conveners, Mrs. Pickering, Mrs. Wilson and Mrs. Perks. A vote of thanks was accorded Mrs. H. J. Davies, who supplied flowers for the various meetings, and Mrs. R. W. 1 issett who has acted as afternoon tea convener for some time. The same inittee was re-elected, with the addition of Dr. Elizabeth Cole and Mrs. Simpson. Dr. Cole gave a talk on " Mother in the Home. The thought for the month was given by Miss Clark. Arrangements were completed whereby the next meeting in September is to take the form "of a spring flower show, under the direction of Mrs. V. Hunter. In recognition of their past services, bouquets were presented by the mothers present, to Mrs W. J. Jordan, Mrs S. Potter, Mrs. V. Hunter, Mrs. R. W. Bissett and Mrs. Walker.
