NEW GOVERNOR-GENERAL
SIR A. HORE-RUTHVEN APPOINTMENT IN AUSTRALIA HOBART. Aug. 19 Mr. J. A. Lyons has announced that the King has appointed Sir Alexander Hore-Ruthven, V.C., Governor-General of Australia, in succession to Sir Isaac Isaacs. The date on which he will assume office will be announced later. Sir Alexander is at present Governor of New South Wales, and was formerly Governor of South Australia. It is expected that he will be raised to the peerage.
