SOCIAL AT RAWENE

NORTH AUCKLAND NEWS The residents of Rawene gave a farewell evening last week to Mr. and Mrs. G. J. Shepherd, who are leaving the district to take up their residence in Auckland. The chairman of the Town Board presided over a large gathering, representatives of which took the opportunity of presenting Mr. and Mrs. Shepherd with many tokens. A dance was heid in Awanui last week in aid of the Awanui queen candidate of 'that district. The function was well attended, and the many and varied costumes of those in " back to childhood " dress created much amusement. An old-time dance was held in the Parish Hall, Kaitaia, in aid of the Kaitaia queen candidate. Prizes for competition dances wont to Mr. and Mrs. A. Grav, Mrs. W. Subritzky and Mr. J. T. B. Taaffe. Mrs. A. North wood left last week for Auckland. Miss M. Hall. Opononi, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. D. Anderson, Kaikohe.
