ATTACK ON WOMAN

Sunday In connection with the assault on Mrs. Archibald Henderson at Tapui, North Otago, on August 11, a youth aged 16 was arrested in the county this afternoon, and will appear before justices of the peace at Oamaru tomorrow on a charge of attempted murder. It is possible that owing to accused's age he may be dealt with in the Children's Court. Mrs. Henderson has made a good recovery from her injuries. 4jjf. * '.. ... j'. Mrs. Henderson, who was admitted to the Oamaru Hospital on August 11 suffering from a severe wound in -the throat, was stated to have been in bed at her home between 12.30 and 1 o'clock in the morning when she felt someone put his hands on her throat and felt a knife. The room was in darkness and she did noo see the intruder, but she caught hold of the knife, suffering a cut on the hand. A severe, cut was inflicted on her throat, from the side over the chin and up to the lips. Her screams brought her daughter and aunt bo her aid from another room, and she was bandaged «nd taken to hospital. The police took possession of a butcher's knife, with which it was alleged the attack was made.
