REQUEST FROltf CAMBRIDGE TEACHER WITH CLASS OF 59 [by telegraph—owx correspondent] CAMBRIDGE, Thursday At a meeting of the Cambridge District High School committee it was unanimously resolved that a letter bo sent to the Auckland Educatioh. Board urging that a now primary school he provided for Cambridge, and that meanwhile additional staffing bo provided, especially for the infant section. Tho primary school was erected 60 years ago, and it was pointed out by sieveral members of the committee that the building was out of date, in spite of additions made from time to time. At present there were 82 children on the infant roll, the department being administered by .a mistress and one assistant. In former years there had been three teachers in this section. In standard 111. one teacher had to teach and control a class of 59. The school roll stood at 362, with an average of 340, which did not entitle the school to any additions to tho teaching staff. A speaker pointed this out as a striking example of how the department had economised at the expense of the children's education.
