BRITAIN TO ITALY ATTACKS IN THE PRESS ROME ORDERS CESSATION By Tulegraph—Press Association—Copyright LONDON. Aug. 7 The Daily Telegraph's diplomatic correspondent reveals the fact that the Foreign Office made strong representations to Signor Grandi, Italian Ambassador, against the violent attacks mado on Britain by the Italian press. It reminded him of '.British newspapers' restraint toward Italian affairs, and a hint was dropped that as the Italian pres.', is controlled by the Government, such attacks are a grave mistake.. Tho latest news from Rome shows that 11 Tevere is the worst offending journal. It publishes largo cartoons reviliuf ; " John Bull," and " Tommy Atkins." Other obscure journals are exploiting this opportunity to increase their circulation, and are accusing Britain of cutting the throats of Maltese, Indians, Egyptians, Boers, and "Ulster Roman Catholics. The Sun-Herald news servico says the right to migrate is behind the violent anti-British campaign which Signor Mussolini is inspiring throughout the Italian press which, in spite of British protest, continues unabated. II l)uce hotly resents Britain's attempts to prevent hostilities because he asserts that Britain throughout history has Colonised at will. Anather message from Borne states that as the result of Britain's representations the Government has ordered a cessation of anti-British propaganda.
