PROJECTED CITY WORKS

Sir, —Recently a number of municipal works were under consideration by the City Council. I write to express a hope that somo of the new projects will be carried throueh, e.g., baths at S.ymonds Street and a bridgo across Archhill Gully. Baths are proposed at Point Chevalier, but the residents there can get a swim in the sea, while at Symonds Street there are no facilities for public bathine at all. Traffic relief schemes are worthy, but none more so than a bridge across Archhill Gully. Other congested areas at least have an outlet even if very busy, but thero is no bridge across the gully at all. I think it would be preferable to create such now facilities, far more enjoyable and useful to the people, rather than build a fine arts block and put more money into drainaeo and libraries. Create that of which we now have nothine at all. Here's Hoping.
