LEAKS IN WAITAKI DAM

In a statement las;t week regarding the location of leaks at tlie Waitaki dam, the chief electrical engineer of the Public Works Department, 3dr. F. T. M. Kissel, said that good,, progress •was being made with the task of sealing the remaining three temporary sluice-gates. Mr, Alcock, engineer in charge at the Waitaki hydro works, remarked to-day thsffc the river was lower now than at any time during the past two years, and provided the present satisfactory -conditions continued the work of sealing the sluicegates would be pushed ahead rapidly. Mr. Alcock was unable to erpress an opinion as to when the work would be completed, but sa.id that good progress had been made so far and everything depended now on the condition of the river.
