FRENCH SLOOP'S VISIT
ARRIVAL NEXT TUESDAY ARRANGEMENTS FOR STAY The French sloop Amiral Charner is expected at Auckland from Papeete at about 10 a.m. next Tuesday. She will remain in port for six days. Shortly after the sloop's arrival Commander Adelus will pay official calls on the Minister of Defence, the Hon. J. G. Cobbe, the Mayor, Mr. Ernest Davis, the officer commanding the Northern Command, Colonel J. E. Duigan, tho officer in charge of the naval base, Commander C. B. E. Brooke* and the chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, Mr. C. G. Macindoe. Accompanying Commander Adelus will be the French Consul, M. Edouard Joubert. The calls will be returned on board the sloop in the afternoon. The Government, will entertain Commander Adelus at a dinner at the Grand Hotel on Tuesday evening. Commander Adolus will act as host at a luncheon on the sloop on Wednesday and that evening will be the guest at a dinner at the Grand Hotel, tendered by M. Joubert. The commander and a party of officers will leave for Rotorua and Waitomo Caves on Thursday and will return to Auckland on Saturday. On Friday night they will be in Hamilton, when they will be the guests of the Hamilton Club at a ball. The Amiral Charner is a sister ship to the Savorgnan de Brazza, which visited Auckland last year.
