TASMAN AIR SERVICE
SIR C. KINGSFORD SMITH MEETING WITH MINISTERS A hopeful view of the jesult of his discussions in Wellington with the act-ing-Prime Minister, Sir Alfred Ransom, and other members of the Cabinet, with regard to proposals for establishing a regular transtasman air service is taken by Sir Charles Kingsford Smith, who returned to Auckland by air yesterday morning. Sir Charles was accompanied by Mr. B. Shiel, who left for Sydney by the Marama yesterday afternoon, and Sir Charles will sail for San Francisco by the Monterey to-day. After having lunch with the GovernorGeneral, Viscount Galway, in Wellington on Thursday Sir Charles and Mr. Shiel left for New Plymouth in one of the Moth aeroplanes of the Royal New Zealand Air Force. They reached New Plymouth in fast time, one hour 40 minutes, in spite of bad weather conditions, and Sir Charles met local authorities to discuss extensions to the aerodrome.
The flight to Auckland was resumed at 7.30 yesterday morning, aud the maehine reached Hobsonvillc Air Base after an hour and 40 minutes in the air.
