COMING ELECTIONS
KAIPARA ELECTORATE MR. COATES CONGRATULATED [;?T TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] DARGAVILLE, Friday An enthusiastic and well-attended meeting of Mr. J. G. Coates' supporters lust night unanimously decided to carry on under the National Party. Representatives from every settlement in t'be northern part, of the Kaipara electorate from Ruawai to Tutamoe were f resent. A feature of the meeting was the number of old supporters in attendance, and also the number of new ones vho came along to assist in the campaign, which will start immediately. Strong committees were appointed, trith Dargaville as the centre, and committees were appointed for every settlement throughout the northern part of the electorate. Reports show that good support is farthcoming from all quarters, and every endeavour will be made, not only to return Mr. Coates, but leave his large majority at the 1931 election intact. The meeting decided to send a congratulatory cable to Mr. Coates on his achievements during his visit to London on behalf of the Dominion's primary producers. — THE THAMES CONTEST DEMOCRAT CANDIDATURE [by telegraph—own correspondent] WAIHI. Friday The Auckland Province organiser for the New Zealand Democrat Party, Mr. H. Baulf, paid a visit to Waihi last night and waited on the Mayor, Mr. W. M. Wallnutt, who was asked if ho would consider offering his services in the interests of the party as a candidate for the Thames seat at the next general Parliamentary election. Mr. Wallnutt replied that he had no aspirations in that direction. As far as is known no other person was approached.
