FRANKLIN QUOTATIONS LARGE YARDING OF SHEEP PIGS IN KEEN DEMAND * , [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Tuesday There was an extra large yarding of all classes of sheep at the 1" rankton saleyards to-day. Late quotations were maintained for prime wethers and ewes, but unfinished sheep were dull of sale. Exporters operated freely on a large entry of fat lambs, full schedule rates being realised. Breeding ewes wore yarded in good condition and met with keen competition, one line of 713 realising £1 5s lOd. A good yarding of all classes of cattle came forward. Ox beef was penned in average numbers, prices remaining firm at late rates, while cow and heifer beef showed a slightly easing tendency. Store cows realised late quotations. There was spirited competition for a pen of 13 Polled Angus vealers, which brought up to £4 5s each. A smaller yarding of fat pigs sold readily under good competition. Porkers, in particular, were firmer. Competition was keen for a short entry of stores and weaners and a sharp rise was recorded. The auctioneers report as follows: — G. W. SPECIAL TE ANGA OFFERING The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hamilton, reports having held a special stock sale nt, Te Anga yards on Monday, when about 350 head of cattle of all descriptions came forward. In the fat pens were, apart from a number of fat cows and a few pens of medium-class bullocks, a line of 39 good quality eteera on account of Mr. TJ. Phillips. These, as did ail the fat cattle offered, met with a keen response from the purchasers and sold from £5 17s 6d to £7_ss according to quality. The store section comprised a number of small pens of store heifers and steers, including a line of 34 18-months Polled Angus heifers on account of Mr. H. Shaw, which were in forward condition and realised £2 15s; 23 Polled Angus steer calves on account of Mr. S. N. A larce bench of buyers representative of the Bay of Plenty was present. The stock came forward in excellent condition and satisfactory prices were realised. A two-year-old heifer, Oakfield'a Mercina Molly, sold to Mr. J. G. Murray, of Otakiri. for 12gns. and a ten-year-old cow sold to Mrs. M. Webber, of Te Puke, for llgns.
