The late night on Friday was observed by many residents in a spirit of curiosity, and as a result there was a large number in the streets. On Friday afternoon there wero not nearly as many people in the streets as on an ordinary Saturday, and there was an absenco of country residents. On Saturday morning the streets were crowded, a largo proportion being country people. Shopkeepers have had varying experiences in the matter of trade, and the general opinion is that the first days arc not reliable indications of the results of tho change over.
