INDIAN EARTHQUAKE RELIEF FUNDS GROWING ROYAL CONTRIBUTORS By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received June 9, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, June 9 A message from Calcutta states that earthquake shocks continue to be felt at Quetta. The official survey of the ruined villages has not been completed, but the present estimate of the dead there is between 12,000 and 15,000. In one village there were only nine survivors out of a population of 400. The Times states that the British Government will move a vote of £50,000 for the Quetta relief fund when the House of Commons reassembles. Gifts to the Lord Mayor's fund include one from the King of £SOO, from the Queen, £250, the Prince of Wales £125, the Duke and Duchess of York, and the Duke and Duchess of Kent, £SO each.

The Government of India has made a grant of £75,000 to the relief fund.

June 7 Official messages from India state that the range ..of the Quetta earthquake is estimated aR having been 130 miles long and 20 miles broad. The total death roll, including Quetta and neighbouring villages, is probably in excess of 40,000. The number of destitute refugees is estimated at not less than 15,000.

Supplies of food and medical comforts at Quetta are now adequate. The evacuation of the British and Indian survivors continues to be carried on with all possible speed.

The acting-Prime Minister, Dr. Earle Page, announced to-day that the Federal Government had offered £IO,OOO as a gift to the Government of India for the relief of the sufferers in the Quetta earthquake area.
