LIGHTNING STRIKES CAR
ORDEAL OF MOTORISTS VEHICLE PLUNGES OVER BANK [bt telegraph—OWN correspondent] NEW PLYMOUTH, Sunday Lightning struck a sedan motor-car on Ratanui Hill, two miles from New Plymouth, late to-night, temporarily blinded the driver, and extinguished the lights. The car plunged over a bank and somersaulted four times down a gully. The driver, Mr. F. Ward, contractor, of New Plymouth, suffered a severe gash on the hc-ad through coming into contact with the smashed steering wheel, but his three companions escaped with a severe shaking. All remained inside the car until the vehicle came to rest upside down. They were severely buffeted as the car rolled down the hill. The vehicle was fairly extensively damaged.
