LONG HARRIER RACE
ONEHUNGA TO AUCKLAND SAVIDAN AGAIN SUCCESSFUL TECHNICAL WINS TEAMS' EVENT Winning the event for the third time in succession, .J. W. Savidan, tho veteran champion, set a new record of ;iom 27s in the fifth annual harrier road race from Onohunga to Auckland conducted h.v the Technical College Old liovs' Athletic Club on Saturday. He broke his previous record of 'Win .'sss established,, in 19.'W, when he first contested the race. Savidan also was the winner last year, his time being 37m lis. Second place was gained on Saturday by A. M. Atton, who finished ]m lis after the winner, and A. E. Parsons, 8s behind Atton, filled third place. N. I<\ Cooper was another fis away fourth.
About 1 '2O runners faced Iho starter at. the Onehunga Post Office, where tho race commenced. The weather was fine during tho race. On. the run up Queen Street, Onehunga, Savidan forged ahead from Attor, W. Briggs and Parsons. At Royal Oak Savidan was leading Atton by a fair margin with Briggs third and Cooper, who had replaced Parsons, in fourth place. Passing tho junction of Pah Road, Savidan was about 50 yards ahead of Atton, with Cooper and J. I. B. Neil pacing each other in third position, Briggs having dropped back slightly. By the time Newmarket was reached the British Empire champion had increased his lead to about 300 yards from Atton, who was closely followed by Parsons and C. Littler and Neil. At St. Stephen's Avenue the order of the leaders was tho same. Following Neil, who still held fifth position, were Cooper, J. Valder and A. G. Hill. Nearing (he finish at the Northern Roller Mills after the run down Gladstone Road and Quay Street, Savidan wns several hundred yards ahead of Atton, with Parsons, Cooper, Littler, Neil ard Valder next in that order, fairly, closely bunched. They went on to finish in (hat order. Tho sealed handicap resulted in a _ win for W. Baker from W. Clapham and V. Wvnn. . , Reasserting itself after its comparatively poor showing last year, the Technical Olc* Boys' team won tho teams' race by a convincing margin from Papatoctoe, last year s winner.

HAMILTON CLUB [from ottr own correspond f.nt~l HAMILTON, Sunday Tho Hamilton Harrier Club conducted a crosß-country race yesterday over a course of 24 miles. The results were: R. Gardner, 1: K. Simcock. 2: T. Sanders . 3. E. Henshal covered the distance m the fastest time of 14m.
