MATCHES IN AUCKLAND PLAY FOR GEORGE CUP BEST CARDS AT MIDDLEMORE The qualifying round for the George Cup bogov competition was played at Mjddlemore on Saturday by members of the Auckland Golf Club. The following players qualified for match play: C. F. Ashton (15), 3 up; C. H. Knight (8), nil square; S. S. Handyside (7), all square; R. D. Wright (3), nil square; H. L. Rees (8), 1 down; R. E. Rainger (8), 1 down; H. Plumley (2), Q down; E. L. Bartleet (2), 2 down.

The following players were also 2 down, but lost on the count back;—P. Nathan T. E. Clark, E. B. Brown, E. W. Fried lander.

The following matches were played in (he captain's tourney:—A. L. McLean beat IT. Plumley, 2 and 1; A. Louisson beat R. E. Rainger, 3 and 2; J. W. Gunn beat A. E. M. Rhind at the 19th. The match between A. J. Friedlander and H. "W. Siimnondß lias not yet been played.

The original draw will stand. The last medal match was won by Mrs. S. Keys with a score of 110, 36 —74. The C grade matches were won by Miss P. Hayes with a score of 76, 20—56. ana Miss E.
