THEFT OF A COAT
MAN SENT TO PRISON [from our own correspondent"! WHANGAREI. Saturday At the Police Court to-day, before Mr. G. N. Morris, S.M., Thomas Henry Edmonds pleaded guilty to stealing a
. coat valued at £2, the property of , Alger George Lillev, Three Mile Bush, and was sentenced to one month's imprisonment. Senior-Sergeant Finch stated that on May 31 last Mr. Lilley's residence was ,burned. Accused was employed by a neighbour, and in company with his employers he went to Mr. Lilley's to assist with the salvage of some of the property. After the fire accused took a coat, which was found . "in his possession. Accused asked the magistrate to give liim another chance. The magistrate said accused had - llready had his chances and had not /i.tesponded.
