GOOD SALE IN LONDON GENERAL COMPETITION ' C". V LONDON, May 10 At* the wool sales to-day, 10,445 bales were offered, including 6166 from New Zealand. About 7222 Australian and New Zealand were sold. There was good Home and Continental competition at full recent rates. Ihere were some withdrawals of inferior Australian sorts. New Zealand chips sold as follows: Scoured Merino, "li Company," top price, 23jd, average 23d; Greasy crossbred, " Glengarrie," 9Jd and "3d; halfbred lamb slipe " T. 8.5., Canterbury," 14d and 13id. The Bank of New Zealand has received the following advice from its London office under date, May 10: The sales continue with opening prices fully maintained. Values are:—Greasy Merinos, 60 to 64's, 13$ d to 14$ d per lb.; ordinary, 12Jd to 123 d; inferior, lOd to 10id; half-breds, 56's, lOd to 50's, 7|d to BJd; 48 to 50's, to 7Jd; 46 to 48's, 6Jd to 7d; 44 t-o 46's, to 6Jd; 40 to 44's, 6Jd to 6}d; 36 to 40's, 6d to 6}d.

BEST BATES OF THE SEASON ADELAIDE, May 11 At the Adelaide wool sales to-day, competition was fully maintained and values were easily the best of any Adelaide sale this season. Probably they were the highest of any in Australia. The average price during the series was £l2 10s a bale.

HIGHER INTERIM DIVIDEND The United Insurance Company, Limited, Sydney, has declared an interim dividend of 4 per cent for the half-year ended March 31. Last year the company paid an interim dividend of 3J per cent and a final dividend of 4 per cent.
