HAMILTON ACTIVITIES
WAIKATO SOCIETY OF ARTS The members of the Waikato Society of Arts presented' a private view of their work in the Toorak Hall on Monday evening. The hall had been comfortably arranged with armchairs and lounge seats and adorned with autumn flowers and Virginia creeper. A happy interlude was a cycle of songs by Mrs. C. O'Connor, who was accompanied on the piano by Miss Violet Rucroft. The Mayor spoke, after which the president, Dr. E. T. Rogers, in a short address, declared the exhibition open. The hostesses were Mrs. E. T. Rogers (wife of the president), who was wearing a frock of burgundy velvet; Mrs. A. Younghusband, in midnight blue velvet; and Miss Ida Carey, in old gold velvet. Mrs. F. Bullock and Miss Eiise Bullock have returned from a holiday at Gats cor Bay. Mrs. A. C. Lavington is home from a fishing holiday at Rotorua. Miss Ailsa Wilson is visiting New Plymouth for a few days.
Mrs. F. Vickery and her daughter. Mrs. H. N. Hallett, have returned from Raglan. Mrs. R, J). McFarland, who has been staying at the Mount, Tnuranga. is home again.
Mrs. A. H. Tompkins has returned from New Plymouth, where she went to attend the wedding of her son. Mrs. Lance Tompkins was also in New Plymouth for her brother's wedding. Miss Beryl Easton, Wanganui, has returned from a visit to Mrs. C. G. Speight, Claudelands. Mrs. Colin Taylor has been holidaying at Rotorua,* where she succeeded in landing one of the largest trout of the season.
Mrs. J. F. Strang and her daughter, Miss Elsie Strang, have returned from a holiday spent at Rotorua and Wairakei.
