DAIRYMAN'S LICENCE

TRANSFER DISCUSSED COUNCIL DEFERS DECISION • The question whether an application by a licensed dairyman in Victoria Street West to transfer his licence to premises on the opposite side of the street, which he stated were larger and more suitable for his business, should be granted, was discussed at yesterday's meeting of the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Council. In a report presented to the council the distribution committee said that the shop had been a dairy for some years. In the event of the licence being removed it was considered that the council would probably be faced with a complaint from the landlord. The committee had decided to refer the matter back to the whole council. Mr. A. C. Trousdalp said that in the public interest the most modern and hygienic shops should be'licensed. Mr. H. F. W. Meikle said that it was hardly fair to withdraw the licence if the shop complied with the regulation. The chairman, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, said the council had to consider the best interests of the trade. The council deferred its decision until the next meeting.
