A .resolution was carried strongly opposing the lifting of the embargo. PIG BREEDERS' ATTITUDE PRECAUTIONS ADEQUATE [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Friday The South Auckland branch of the New Zealand Pig Breeders' Association at the annual meeting in Hamilton this week passed a resolution recommending that the embargo on the importation of live stock should be lifted. The opinion was expressed that the ordinary restrictions seemed to be so complete that the importation of stock into the Dominion carried with it no danger of foot and mouth disease infection. CANTERBURY OPPOSITION PREVALENCE OF DISEASE [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] ASHBURTON, Friday The Mid-Canterbury executive of the Farmers' Union unanimously expressed opposition to the lifting of the embargo on the importation of stock direct to New Zealand while foot and moutb disease was so prevalent in Britain.
