A list of native plants allowed to be taken is as follows: —Hutawai, or piripiri (bidibidi), tutu, the firewoods kannka and manuka, hard fern, touhinu (two species), bracken, nettle, also all species of sea and fresh-water weeds, fungi, lichens, liverworts and mosses.

Mr. Ransom added that the warrant, which has now been signed by the Governor-General, declares all native plants, with the exception of a few species which are commonly regarded as weeds, are to bo protected throughout thq whole of the Dominion.
