AUSTRALIAN CRICKET
SOUTH AFRICAN TOUR TEAM TO BE SELECTED (Received April 21, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY. April 21 Cricket selectors will assemble in Melbourne next Saturday to choose an Australian team of 14 players to tour South Africa. VISIT TO ENGLAND AFRICANS WELCOMED NEWSPAPER COMMENT LONDON, April 19 The gossip writer of the Daily Mail, referring to the visiting South African cricket team, says: "It is pleasant to meet a team of touring cricketers who are not kept socially under lock and key, and who do not suspect everybody of seeking their money or theirlife histories. " There has been too much secrecy, jealousy and recrimination in recent international cricket in the administration of players." The cricket writer of the Times says: " We should be able in 1935 to play and watch cricket in comparative security and serenity because the South Africans will guarantee a pleasurable and wholesome outlook. " The first-class counties would not have found fault with one county last season unless there had been grounds for a grievance.
" The ' direct attack ' rumpus, the value of which was lost in unbecoming heat against Australia, may be quietly worked out and the South Africans are the sort of people to help us."
