POPPY DAY RECEIPTS

APPEALS IN THE PROVINCE READY RESPONSE MADE Poppy Day appeals in provincial towns and country districts met with a ready response. Sales in Gisborne realised £175, or approximately £2O less than was obtained in 1934, from the town area. However, there are to be added returns from country saies, which should bring the total receipts to about £3OO. Every poppy was sold in Tauranga. The receipts from the Tauranga borough, Gate Pa, Otumoetai and Mount Maunganui exceeded £SO, while gross receipts from the district, including Te Puke, were more than £75. The result of the appeal in Rodney County proved most successful, ovef £7O being collected. This sum exceeds last year's total by £l4. The sum of £7 was raised on Waiheke Island. All the poppies were soid, the proceeds being about the sanie as those realised last year.
