FINAL TRACK WORK TAURAMAI IMPRESSES A GOOD SEVEN FURLONGS [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday Light rain, during the night did not have any material effect on the going for the iinal gallops at liiccarton yesterday and with lino conditions prevailing a lot of work was done on the outside of the course proper. Tauramai's seven furlongs gallop with Polydora was easily the best of the morning, the time, 1.28, being seldom recorded on the outside of the trestles, some 40ft. out from the rails.

Astraea was in front of Tail Light and Panegyric at the end of half a mile in 50s. Astraea gives indications of being useful. Cranford was seen to advantage in running seven furlongs in 1.29 3-5. Ho has practically thrown oft his musclo soreness and will be a certain starter in Iho Great Easter.

Greek Shepherd and Knowledge ran five furlongs in 1.3, the last four in 50 2-59, the former going tho better lit the post. Sea Fox, picked up by Riptide at the halfmile, galloped seven furlongs in 1.30. Ho is without a rider for the Great Easter. Chidden and Kemal Pasha ran a mile in 1.46, tho latter being two lengths in front at tho finish. Sam Smith beat Rebel Chief by two lengths over seven furlongs in 1.81 l-ss, tho first three in 36 4-ss. Sam Smith again impressed. Minerva! maintained a fairly even pace over a miio, taking 1.45 3-5, the second half in 53 l-ss. Ho has got through a eolid preparation satisfactorily and should raco prominently. Tuirau had to ho kept up to her task to leave seven furlongs behind in 1.32 3-5.

Polydora and Tauramni hopped off together from the seven furlongs post, covering the first furlong in 12 1-58. two in 24 3-ss. three in 37 2-ss, and the full journey in 1.28. Tauramai had a. slight advantage at the post and Polydora was fully stretched out on this occasion. Might and Cuddle kept together throughout a. mile in 1.43 2-5. the second half in 51 2 ss. Silver Sight and liorowhenua were together for a good portion of a seven furlongs gallop, but Silver Sight beat Ilia mate homo by over a length in 1.29 4-5. Tizzy and Silver Streak finished abreast after covering five furlongs in 1.4. Capital was sent oil from the nine furlongs post and ran his first three furlongs in 35 2-ss. half a mile in 48 3-5s and five furlongs in 1.2 4-5.

Rerepai and Princess Dorecn went out to ffallop six furlongs together, but they were separated on moving off and wore timed to run the last half-mile in 495, finishing abreast. Imperial Spear bent Importance over seven furlongs in 1.34 1-5. The weather to-day was cloudy and threatening with a cold atmosphere, but rain does not seem likely. tracks were opened for a brief period this morning. Song Boy, carrying a big weight, and Viking were sent half a mile on the inside of the trial grass. Tlio former led to within a few strides of the post but the two-year-old, under a much lighter impost, cot up to beat, his stable-mate by a neck. The time, 47 4-ss, was good, the last three furlongs being run in 34 4-ss. Kemal Pasha followed over the same ground in 48 l-ss. He was ridden by the apprentice H. W. Hibbard, who will ride him in the Great Easter. Golden King strode over a mile in 1.45 2-5 without being seriously ridden at any purt. Inflation attracted attention by his excellent condition. He was sent five furlongs on the plough, taking 1.4 2-5, the Inst three in 38s. Fair "Weather was responsible for a smart oflort over three furlongs on the plough in 35 3-5s Silver Streak may not bo started in the Great Easter Handicap if a suitable rider is not available. His trainer has made every effort to get a horseman at the weight but has been unsuccessful. Rebel Chief wns sprinted three furlongs this morning and did bettor than in any of his recent essays. He is to start tomorrow.
