Watkins" (Hastings), wbp won the national mile at Auckland this month, captured five events, 50yds., 100 yds., 220 yds., 440 yds. and 880 yds., covering the half-mile in 11m 52 l-ss, which is % t 7 6 4-5s ahead of his own previous record.
Mavis Simmonds, of the Te Awa Club, Napier, won all the women's free-style events, 50yds., 100 yds., 220 yds. and 440 yds. and also the 100 yds. backstroke*
