PLUNKET SOCIETY
The monthly meeting of the Northcote committee of the Plunket Society was held last evening at the home of the president, Mrs. A. Campbell. The Plunket nurse, Miss Joan Carmichael, reported that during February there had been 158 visits to the Northeote Plunket rooms from 73 adults, 69 babies and 16 older children. She had visited 33 homes, seven being new cases. Voluntary transport throughout the month had been provided by Airs. N. J. Campbell, Mrs. N. Stewart, Mrs. A. Sterling and Miss Jean Stewart. Appreciation was expressed of the action of Mr. Charles Chambers in placing his car at the disposal of the committee for transport in an emergency. Activities in the Birkdale district were reported by Airs. W. Williams. Several members volunteered their services as collectors on Plunket Day, March 22. Arrangements were finalised for the annual bridge evening next month in aid of the fund to provide free Karitane products to necessitous rases. It was reported that prizes had been donated and the Auckland headquarters of the society would be represented by several officers.
