Mrs. W. P. Black, of Waimate, is at IJotel Cargen. Mrs. J. A. C. Allum, Curran Street, Heme Bay, is visiting Wellington. Mrs. R. .T. Sinton, of Bombay, has returned from an extended tour of the South Island. Colonel and Mrs. Shakespeare, of Whangaparaoa. have returned from a visit to Geraldino. Mrs. 1, W. Muirhead* of Northeote, left yesterday 011 a visit to Mrs. A. A. Holmes, at Te Rapa. Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Thorne George, Remuera Road, are the guests of Mrs. D. W. Barker, Poverty Bay. Miss Kathleen Sherratt, of Gisborne, is the guest of Mrs. J. J. Kingston, Victoria Avenue, Remuera. Mrs. Claude Williams, Coventry, Gisborne, is staying with her mother, Mrs. C. W. Egerton, Orakei Road, Remuera. Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Ward, of Northcote, who are at Blenheim, will visit Wellington and return to Auckland 011 March 9. Mrs. J. I. Williams, of New Lynn, has left for Cliristchurch, where she will be the guest of her daughter, Mrs. Nevil Boag. Sir Hugh and Lady Denison, of Sydney, are visiting the Southern Lakes and Mount Cook, and will later tour the North Island. Miss Molly Stewart, of Havelock North, who has been staying with Airs. J. J. Kingston, Victoria Avenue, is the guest of Mrs. F. W. Wilson, Mountain Road.
Oversea visitors at the Grand Hotel include Mrs. Cuzens Smith, Mrs. Elliott, Mrs. Hole, Miss J. E. MacLean and Miss Hills, London, and Mrs. W. E. Holloway, Brisbane.
At the Station Hotel are: Mrs. G. T. Wilkins, Cambridge, Mrs. W. Biggins, Tauranga, Mrs. H. L. Esau. Masterton, Mrs. W. R. Hunter, Gisborne, and the Misses M. and H. Dransfield, Rotorua.
Mrs. G. H. Dann, of North Wales, and Mrs. Arthur Burt, of Nelson, who have been the guests of Mrs. W. .J. Marshy Remuera. will leave to-day for New Plymouth, Wanganui and Wellington. Mrs. Dann will sail from Wellington on March 6 on her return to England.
Miss Jeanie Ranken is one of the few Australian women to have her work translated into French. The French have just approached Miss' Ranken's English publishers for the purpose of translating her book "Tzane." Miss Ranken has also had various verses published in English and Canadian papers, and she is treasurer for the Sydney branch of the P.E.N. Club. Membership to this club is only given to those who have written a book or done some equivalent work, and even guests to the dinner must have these qualifications.
