PROFITS ON GOODS
COMMERCIAL TRUSTS ACT AMENDMENT PROPOSED STATEMENT BY MINISTER [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] WELLINGTON, Wednesday " One of tho troubles of tho Chambers of Commerce is that their members are debarred from getting a reasonable price for their commodities, because of a fear of the Commercial Trusts Act," said the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Hon. R. Masters, in ad dressing Wellington Chamber of Commerce at its 71st annual meeting last night. " This question has given me cause for a good deal of thought during the last three years," the Minister continued. " I have a duty to the public and I believe I have evolved an amendment to the Act that will enable business people to mako reasonable profits on goods, and at the same time protect the public. I propose that the amendment shall go through this session. " I am hoping that tho concessions I am making will benefit the merchant, the retailor, the employee, tho public and tho Government," added the Minister.
