WAIKATO REGIMENT
DINNER AT ANNUAL CAMP FORMER OFFICER HONOURED [from our own correspondent 1 HAMILTON, Friday The officers of the Ist Battalion, the Waikato Regiment, held a dinner last evening at the Ngaruawahia training camp, at which Lieutenant-Colonel R. D. McFarland was presented with a framed photograph of the officers under his charge when the regiment was in camp last year. Visiting officers and civilian guests at the dinner included Colonel T. Paterson, Waikato Mounted Rifles, the Mavof'of Hamilton, Mr. J. R. Fow, and the Mayor of Huntly, Mr. W. C. E. George. At the conclusion of the dinner, the commanding officer, Lieutenant-Colonel V. R. Closey, presented the photograph, making reference to LieutenantColonel McFarland's long and efficient service with the regiment, and expressing regret at his retirement, in his reply, Lielitenant-Colonel McFarland traced the record of the regiment and thanked the officers for their gift.
