BELL-HOOPER OPERATIONS
Bell-Hooper (Cromwell) Gold, Limited, reports that only sufficient men are being employed to maintain tlie mine in proper conditifrti and safety and for development-work. Investigation has indicated that a small section adjoining the claim is desirable for the fuller development of the company's area and negotiations are under way to work this area in conjunction with the main claim. MACETOWN DEVELOPMENTS Macetown Developments, Limited (Otago), reports that good progress has bean made in opening up the old Macetown field and in prospecting and assay work. English capital has shown interest in the field and offers for purchase have already been received.
MINT RETURNS INCREASE
The quantity of gold received at the Melbourne mint during 1934 was 205,541 fine ounces, an increase of , 17,970 ounces over the previous year. Receipts from New Zealand increased by 4903 ounces to 15,927 fine ounces. ; REPORTS OF MANAGERS Mataki (Murchison).— Last week the > dredge pulled ahead 51ft; in ground . the average depth of which was 16tt. < The length of the face is now 340 ft. ; The dredge had a good run for the week, the wash dirt showing * slight improvement, and present indications . point to the improvement-continuing.
