PLUNKET SHIELD MATCH

AUCKLAND AND WELLINGTON plAy commencing to-morrow The Plunket Shield cricket match between Auckland and Wellington will be commenced at Eden Park tomorrow, and will extend over next Saturday, Monday and Tuesday. The game is the final of the series to be played by the Auckland team, which, with a record of a win on the first innings against Otago and an outright loss against Canterbury, has no chance of retaining the trophy. By defeating Auckland outright, Wellington will still have a possible chance of winning the Plunket Shield, although present indications are that Canterbury is assured of the trophy. The following teams have been chosen for the match which commences ttf-morrow: — Wellington. Blundell (captain), Lamason, Ell, Morgan, Whyte, McLeod, Ward, Rainbird, Tricklebank, Tiudill, Griffiths. Twelfth man: Hamilton. Auckland. —Vivian (captain), Whitelaw, Wallace, McCoy, Mills, Weir, Sale, Edmonds, R. G. Bush, Cowie, Townsend. Twelfth man: G. Hook. The twelfth man for the Auckland team, G. Hook, of the. Y.M.C.A. Club, is a promising young all-rounder whose batting and fielding especially have been very impressive over the past two seasons.
