SCOUTS FOR JAMBOREE

CONTINGENT FROM FIJI SMALL AMERICAN PARTY Parties of Boy Scouts from the Fiji Islands and the United States are through passengers by the Niagara for Sydney on their way to attend the great jamboree being held in Melbourne as part of the Centenary celebrations. The Americans arc three in number, and are in charge of Assist-ant-Scoutmaster C. R. Pierce, who holds several of the highest decorations obtainable by scouts in the States. The Fiji contingent, which is led by the Rev. T. is. Dollar, is 20 strong. Of that number, seven are Europeans, all being sea scouts from the Fiji Grammar School, while the five Indians are mostly young men who have recently left school. The eight Fijians form an attractive group, neatly dressed in khaki shirts and the native lulu, and all are of splendid physique. Six of them are schoolmasters, and their number includes the champion runner of Fiji, and another is the outstanding swimmer of the group. None of the Indians or Fijians has ever before been out of Fiji, and, to them, the trip to Melbourne is a great adventure. Tho party carries a formal letter from Sir Murchison Fletcher, the Governor of Fiji, to the Chief Scout, Lord Baden-Powell.
