STORM IN SYDNEY

WIND OF GALE FORCE HARBOUR CRAFT BUFFETED (Received December 23. 11.25 p.m.) SYDNEY, Dec. 23 Heavy damage is reported from all parts of the metropolitan area as the result of a severe thunderstorm which struck Sydney this evening. The wind reached gale force and heavy,rain fell, accompanied by hail. The Liverpool district was plunged into darkness when the electric light wires were broken, and numbers of houses were unroofed. Small craft in the harbour were severely buffeted and many were overturned. The police are searching for two men who are reported to have been drowned.
