ST. CUTHBERT'S PARTY

It has been the custom for the last two years of the girls of St. Cuthbert's to entertain tho children of the Otahuhu Free Kindergarten. This year they decided to adopt another kindergarten as well, and accordingly asked the children of the Sunbeams' Free Kindergarten to their party. Fully 130 small children arrived at "two o'clock in cars *"lent by parents of the pupils. Formerly the ontertainment had been held in the playing field, but on this occasion, owing to rain, plans were hastily revised, and classrooms transformed into playrooms. In two large rooms the folding doors were opened and tables erected, and here the small guests were entertained at afternoon tea. Later they were taken to the school hall, where a delightful surprise awaited them in the form of a Christmas tree laden with brightlycoloured parcels and balloons. The arrival of Santa Claus caused great excitement and the children received with joy the gifts, which had been bought or made by the pupils of the college. The peanut men were eagerly chased by tho children, and their coats were stripped of the bags of sweets which had been tied to them. Paper hats were also distributed. About halfpast four tired but happy children wero driven to their homes.
